Here’s a description of Rusty’s love for another Cavalier named Daisy that he sees going around the Lafayette reservoir (Courtesty of an email from my mom):
“Rusty is in love with Daisy…her hair clipped short, her hour glass figure under all that heavy coat, the freckles on her nose. He is absolutely beside himself when he sees her…he throttles up into a full speed run so that the air catches all of his feathers, his ears picked up and all that lovely hair floating and swept back by the effortless force of speed. The crunch of his nails on the asphalt as he skids to a stop and maneuvers it to a spin of delight at being in her company… sometimes he will jump and execute the spin in mid air hoping to catch her undivided attention. It is really something to see, the walk is worthwhile just to witness such unjudgmental total unconditional love. The dog is smitten. Daisy always looks a little surprised at the depth of his response to her being, perhaps a bit embarrassed at the adoration. She is tired and at the end of her morning walk, while Rusty has just begun. Nevertheless, I think it is the pinnacle of the walk for him, and he carries Daisy’s essence with him as he completes the circuit.”
It sounds like the sneak peek of the dog version of Twilight.
